This review will focus on the Loch Ness box mod by the American company Envii, which at the end of last year many sites called one of the most anticipated new products on the vaping market.
The reason for the “long wait” for this device is extremely banal. Initially, the Loch Ness box mod was hand-made from stabilized wood, it was a high-end device, very attractive to many collectors of vaping curiosities around the world due to its design, form factor, exclusivity and overall high quality. Last year, the Envii company was founded, which is currently producing this device in series and with some differences from its progenitor: the beautiful stab wood has been replaced by a metal case with a soft-touch coating, and instead of one battery inside, there was room for two.
Packaging and equipment of Envii Loch Ness
The box mod comes in a cardboard box covered with pleasant to the touch matte paper. On the front side the manufacturer’s name Envii and its logo are embossed in gold, below is the inscription Designed in Los Angeles (that’s where the original Loch Ness comes from). smok nord vape On the back side there is a leaflet with the name of the device, its color and the autograph of the creator of both the original and the updated device – Jacob Giverinc. The box opens quite unusually, there is an inscription OPEN on top, indicating with the apex of the triangle in which direction the inner part should be pulled.

Replacement connector
The device in the package is in a white matte bag, next to it is a replacement connector – a rare guest in the package, otherwise, the set is quite banal. You only need to pay attention to the micro USB cable, it has a very long contact.
The most unusual feature of Loch Ness is its appearance. This is the shape of the hand-made stabilized wood mod, which was released in 2015 in a limited edition of only 100 copies (if I’m not mistaken). The material has changed to metal, but overall, the appearance has remained the same. The device, due to its ergonomic shape, fits very comfortably in the hand, and, according to reviews from people who have held it, this does not depend on the size of the hand. The Fire button is not in the usual place near the screen, but higher, on the beveled part of the case. To be honest, this location can be found fault with, since it will be more convenient to press with the thumb, the index finger already needs to be twisted in an unusual way. Although, there are no special problems with this grip. The entire box is covered with a black matte rubberized coating, it is very pleasant to the touch, but instantly becomes covered with fingerprints and traces of liquid. After two weeks of active use, it has not worn out or swelled anywhere, but in one place it has begun to wrinkle, most likely from liquid that got on the soft-touch. Some users on the Internet complain about the peeling coating, so there may well be problems with it. The box is available in two colors: blue and black.

Impressions and conclusions
Loch Ness 150W box mod and 18650 batteriesThe Envii box mod has not become a “vaper’s dream”, numerous reviews have already shown this. There are too many questions about both the design features and the operation of the board. And if the annoying slowness of the Fire response disappeared with the firmware update, then it will not be possible to fix the stupid cover or the dubious quality of the coating. The mod looks quite large, but when compared to other battery packs, it is not much larger, the elongated upward shape affects it.
Comparison of the Envii Loch Ness 150W (left) and Voopoo DRAG 157W box modsOtherwise, the device is quite good, namely as the successor to the original Loch Ness, which became an unrealizable dream for many. I don’t know how much the box cost in 2015 (it seemed like some kind of unreal money), but today’s price is not so exorbitant, although it is a completely different device. I really liked the ergonomics of the mod, it fits perfectly in the hand, despite its rather immodest dimensions, it is very pleasant to use. There are no sharp or cutting edges, the streamlined case fits perfectly in the hand, and the rough coating is very pleasant to the touch. After changing the software, the board began to respond instantly when pressing the button, before that there was a very big complaint about the response speed. For those who like to “poke around” in the settings, there are interesting modes with preheating and a customizable schedule, which are increasingly found in many devices.
Liked:
Ergonomics
Board operation (after firmware update)
Connectors: for atomizers up to ∅23mm and ∅25mm
Support resistance from 0.05 Ohm
Good operating time
High charging current (1.5A)
Disliked:
Cover
Low current output
Questionable coating
It is very difficult to say for sure who this mod is intended for. In my opinion, the device lacks a higher current output, like in the DRAG box mod, which pumps a 0.08 Ohm coil much better, although nominally slightly more powerful than the Loch Ness. But the device in question has an unusual design, excellent ergonomics and an advanced board, all of which may appeal to fans of unusual gadgets.
