What to do if you want to have a four-battery mod, but you don’t want to constantly carry a huge brick around with you? The answer to this question is quite simple: a battery mod from the inventive Smoktech — Smok GX2/4, a two-in-one device.
The problem, brought out under the title of the article, is actually not so meaningless. Have you ever held monsters like Reuleaux RX300 or iJoy MAXO Quad in your hands? Yes, they are huge, but they can boast both excellent power and enviable autonomy. But the dimensions of such devices provide for almost only one scenario of use — desktop, you won’t run far with such a brick. But the Smok company is sometimes famous for its desire to “find an analogue and improve”. In secret laboratories near Shenzhen, our today’s monster was born, capable of serving not only as a home vape station, but also as a compact companion. Meet the Smok GX2/4 Mod box mod.
Packaging and equipment of the Smok GX2/4 Mod
The buyer is greeted by a fairly familiar package with a color print on a cardboard sleeve, according to what is already becoming a good tradition among many manufacturers, the color of the two versions of the device depicted on the top corresponds to the coloring of the device inside the box. new zealand vaping Of interest is the inscription The smallest dual 18650 mod under the name of the device. In addition to the usual advertising descriptions of the Smok GX2/4, you can find a list of the delivery set, standard icons and warnings, a sticker with the serial number of the device (not presented anywhere on the body of the box mod itself), QR codes leading to the branded, useless mobile application Vaping Tour from IPVS Technology.
In the box we are met by the same miniature mod, ready for use with two 18650, and the entire poor kit is hidden one level below, under the foam rubber.

Appearance and design of the Smok GX2/4 Mod
The main thing you notice when looking at the Smok GX2/4 box mod is its dimensions. The manufacturer calls it the smallest mod for two 18650 batteries. Perhaps, there is no point in arguing with the fact that the device turned out to be compact, but it is worth making an adjustment for the fact that this should be a full-fledged variwatt with a display, since the Noisy Cricket II will still be smaller. And the specified width of 44 mm, due to the protruding button at the top with a visor covering it, becomes all 46 mm. I got the Gold Black color option for review, from black here only the plastic Fire button and the panel with the screen; “golden”, with a slight shine – everything else, i.e. all the metal parts of the case. The paint, apparently, is also covered with a protective layer of varnish, because the device itself is not slippery, but at the slightest contact with liquid it tends to slip out of your hands, the rounded edges only make it worse. The glossy screen of the box mod is covered with a protective film, so do not be alarmed by its unpresentable and slightly scratched appearance out of the box.

Impressions and conclusions
Smok GX2/4 mod and 18650 batteriesDuring use (about a week), the paint did not peel off or suffer anywhere, it seems that Smoktech finally found the right composition formula. GX2/4 was mainly used in a dual-battery version, because I do not see the point in 350W power, even in desktop use. Moreover, you must install 4 new cans, of the same model, from the same batch (ideally). The engineers did not risk (or could not) implement charging in the box mod, this must be taken into account by the potential owner, especially if you do not have a separate charger in stock. The first couple of days of use, the crunch of the plastic button was terribly annoying, but it eventually disappeared, I do not know what the real reason is, something rubbed or just liquid leaked somewhere on the button. And yes, the gaps around the button are such that with the first serious overflow of the tank or dripper, you risk flooding the entire filling of the box mod.
Connection of the four-battery cover in the Smok GX2 / 4 350WConnection of the four-battery cover in the Smok GX2 / 4 350WIn general, the device works quite adequately, the response to Fire is instantaneous, no special glitches were noticed in the operation. Except for one. Sometimes, when installing batteries, the box mod refused to turn on. I wiped the contacts on the cover and in the case, the problem seemed to disappear and has not recurred so far. The contact plate on the cover itself looks rather flimsy, and is held on only by two plastic “snots”, as if something could happen to it over time. I am very annoyed by the control of Smoktech devices, which opens when you press Fire three times, i.e. if you tried to lock the device and made a slight mistake with the frequency of pressing and the box took them for 4-fold pressing, you will go straight to hell in the wilds of a huge menu. Well, the lower resistance threshold of 0.1 Ohm is a bit disappointing, it’s time to catch up with other manufacturers.
Of the advantages, I would like to note the ergonomics: the device is small, fits perfectly in the hand, and you practically don’t need to get used to the wide button, you can press it with your fingers or rest it on your palm. The GX2/4 box mod is perfectly adapted to modern atomizers, not only to the TFV8 Baby Beast kit with a diameter of 24.5 mm. There are also no complaints about the operating time, the device works on charge no less than similar devices. Although I do not see any scenarios for using it with four banks, I do not exclude that someone may need such a device. I liked the compact version better.
Liked:
Ability to use 2 or 4 batteries
Compact dimensions with two 18650
Good connector
Rich functionality of the board
Atomizer seating ∅25mm
Disliked:
Plastic Fire button
Slippery case
No charging
Noticeable gaps in the case
No ventilation holes in the battery compartment
Despite some quality issues, overall, the device turned out to be quite functional, and with the ability to use both two and four batteries, it is also interesting in its own way.
